Kaua‘i War Memorial Convention Hall to reopen May 18 to limited use

LĪHU‘E – The Department of Parks and Recreation is announcing that the Kaua‘i War Memorial Convention Hall will reopen Friday, May 18, for limited use.

“Mahalo to the public for your patience during the convention hall’s closure,” said Mayor Bernard P. Carvalho Jr. “The upgrades and renovations of the convention hall are part of the county’s effort to provide quality customer service, and we are happy to have it open again for limited public use.”

The lobby, two exhibit halls, and the conference room will be open for use. However, the use of the kitchen and theatre will be restricted until repairs are made by the end of May.

“Mahalo to Pacific Concrete Coring & Cutting, Inc and Creative Partition Systems for their quick and awesome work which reopened the convention hall almost two months ahead of schedule,” said Director of Parks and Recreation Lenny Rapozo.

The scope of the convention hall project was to remove asbestos-laced floor tiles from the building, install new floor tiles, and also install new ceramic tiles on the kitchen walls to enhance cleanliness and maintenance.
